Metalogue and Emily Bailey Visuals // How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Network

Metalogue and Emily Bailey Visuals are collaborating from remote locations. Metalogue will be streaming audio and studio footage to Emily Bailey, who will be mixing and compositing her visuals into the feed.

Metalogue is a London based electronic music project combining IDM, ambient, industrial and breakcore with cinematic sound design, experimental practice and electroacoustics. Emily Bailey Visuals is an artist and animator experienced with creating process driven visuals for both live performances and music videos.

Together they began collaborating just before UK lockdown commenced and during this period of social distancing and isolation they have been developing new material that plays with the following concepts:

“Human beings forget they created the images in order to orientate themselves in the world. Since they are no longer able to decode them, their lives become a function of their own images: Imagination has turned into hallucination”. – Vilém Flusser

“The true nature of the machine – and the wilderness hidden underneath the orderly surface – suddenly makes itself evident through a glitch” – Hugh S Manon and Daniel Temki

This new material is in keeping with their dark dystopian electronic soundscapes and visual worlds but explores the technology they are using to create visual and audio glitches artistically and musically. The impact this technology has had on social and interpersonal interactions whilst society has had to remain distant has also been a driving influence.
